Blogmas 1.2 - Something Different (Disneyland Trip)

If you follow me on Twitter then you know that I was able to go to Disneyland for a week until Christmas! It wasn't just Disneyland though as we went to Universal Studios (Wizarding World of Harry Potter) and California Adventure as well. This was definitely something different for celebrating Christmas and the holidays in general because I actually wasn't with my own family. I was with a friend and her family. Sound a bit strange? I'm sure. So let me tell you the tale that led up to this wonderful vacation/trip and what happened while there!

OkCupid - Are You My Appendix?

As we all know there are plenty of guys with lame pick up lines on all the dating apps. I think I've only dealt with maybe one guy who had a funny pickup line and that was only because it was more of a joke about himself and his family. Someone who is able to make fun of themselves is something I can get behind because they don't take everything so seriously. Other than that the rest have fallen flat. Today for you I present another one of those lame pickup lines.

Tinder - Buiding a Porn Empire

I know that swiping right on everyone that shows up on Tinder seems to be a common strategy for some people in order to appear in more feeds and gain more matches. That isn't one that sits all that well with me because as you can probably tell I pay attention to who I'm swiping on. I read their bio, I check out their photos, I look at their likes and interests, and just about anything else they share. If I swiped right on everyone it'd just be a waste of my time, although it might makes things more interesting for you my dear readers. Either way let me introduce you to Cyrus who has big plans.

Blogmas 1.1 - Something New

I had planned to get a bunch of posts done during my time off at Thanksgiving but as some of you know my grandfather passed away so my time was instead spent dealing with funeral arrangements. I can't do a Blogmas post every day because that's expecting a bit much considering I work full time and then some. The plan is to do a post a week so we will see how that goes. Anyways this post is all about doing something new for Christmas! If any of you happen to be in Vegas during this month you'll want to try this for sure.

OkCupid - Don't Be Scared

Some guys just send the wrong message when they are first trying to start a conversation. Apparently saying hello and asking how someone is doing is no longer the standard approach. I have been lucky to avoid dick pics for quite a while, which fingers crossed I will still be lucky enough to do so, but today someone decided they needed to start of the conversation talking about their dick. Is that honestly priority number one? Ok, for some guys it obviously is but is that the only thing a guy can think about discussing?

Tinder - Operators Are Standing By

Once again we have a guy on Tinder who says ridiculous things in his profile as if that's a turn on. Like yes, I suddenly want to be with you because of what you have typed up. How did you know? Either way I'm still laughing about the guy today who mentioned that operators are standing by as if everyone still needs an operator to direct their phone call and fend off unwanted callers. We do have caller ID now don't we?

Tinder - Two Different Measurements?

It's always interesting to see the different types of people you come across while swiping on some of the dating apps. I mean, you'll have people who are obviously in love with the outdoors and others who enjoy the nightlife with what all it has to offer. Everyone has different interests and enjoys a variety of different things but I discovered that Broden may or may not actually want a boyfriend from swiping through Tinder. Also Broden may need to learn how to use a ruler to measure...

OkCupid - I'm Looking to Hext

This just feels so appropriate for Halloween although it is a bit late for it so forgive me on that end. I am all for someone being blunt and honest with me. Just tell me how it is and what you're looking for and that's totally fine. If you're only looking for a hookup I'm the person who appreciates you saying that and then replies that I'm not interested. There is no point in wasting both of our time. However what is the point of setting up a profile on OkCupid if you're not actually looking for something more? OkCupid is supposed to be more about in depth conversation and a deeper connection. It would seem we have someone who missed that part though.

Bumble - Stroke Your What?

Yet another friend has decided to share one of the messages that she received and in all honesty it is quite disturbing. I mean, I know that there are plenty of people only using the dating apps in order to find hook ups and that's fine but wouldn't you want to make sure the person you've connected with is looking for a hook up as well? Either way Josh just shot himself in the foot and made a complete ass of himself.

Fall Favorites Tag

Well it looks like I've been tagged for my fall favorites! I was tagged by Annie who loves doing tag posts. If I'm being honest I'm a bit surprised I was tagged since I've been so busy with my work schedule that there hasn't been as much time for blog related items. Either way here we are so let's get to it!

RIP Vine - Top 25 Vines

A beloved social media platform is officially shutting down thanks to Twitter. Vine was purchased by Twitter and with current reports of loss on Twitter's end they see no point in keeping Vine around. It sort of makes sense because it is easy to advertise on Twitter or Youtube but on a six second video? That's practically impossible. Especially since most people use the mobile version so they just get to see all the videos they want. Although the site will stay up (for now) there will be no new vines in the meantime. So to honor "Do it for the Vine!" here are 25 of my favorite Vine videos in no particular order. I hope you enjoy.

Black Mirror Season 3 Review

Ok if you've been living in a hole under a rock then you haven't heard of Black Mirror, which is slightly disappointing but never fear! I'm here to let you know you can turn your life around and watch it on Netflix. There are now three seasons out and the third one was recently released. In short there are six episodes a season with six very different stories. They don't connect or relate so you can watch any episode you like but you might as well watch them all. It's very interested because Black Mirror sort of calls out society for how it's going and I love it. So, let's get into the third season. (Warning: SPOILERS AHEAD)

Beauty Bit Review - Maybelline Superstay 24

A beauty post? What's this? As I said before I want to start expanding a blog a bit in regards to what I post. I've done travel, music festivals, the dating scene, and now it's time for something in regards to beauty products! Today I'm going to review Maybelline Superstay 24 lip color so let's get into it shall we?

Life is Beautiful Art Review

Life is Beautiful is not only just a music festival but also an art festival! There was Crime on Canvas presented by Chick-fil-A (which hallelujah I've been waiting forever for them to come to Vegas and they finally are!) and then there was plenty of street art as well. In this post I'm sharing some of my favorite pieces that I saw while attending the festival. Enjoy!

Travel Tuesday - NYC Govenor's Island

As some of you know I was able to fly out to NYC and visit an online friend for an entire week. I used Airbnb to score a place to stay, which I may post about later, and got a steal on my flight there. Hounding airline sites is always worth it, so long as you're incognito about it. Anyways today's post is going to be about Governor's Island, which I'd never heard of! Thankfully my friend Mariah suggested we visit it and rent bikes, so that's just what we did!

Life is Beautiful Day 3 Review

It's finally time to review the last day at Life is Beautiful. Once again I'm glad that you're all enjoying my posts about this music festival. If you haven't read them yet here's Day 1 and Day 2. Maybe I will attend even more concerts and events to blog about them for all of you. Of course I'd be attending because I wanted to, not just for the blog. (: I know I've been a bit slow about posting each day but you know how it goes, life happens. Anyways let's get to it!

Life is Beautiful Day 2 Review

I'm so happy that many of you enjoyed my review of Day 1 for Life is Beautiful. I wasn't exactly sure what kind of reaction to expect but I'm happy it was positive. Now it's time to get going with the next part of what would have been a massive post because let's be real. A three day music and art festival put into one post would just be too much to try and cram together. Anyways here we go with day two!

OkCupid - Let's Lose It

While in New York City I was visiting with friends and we were discussing our tales with the dating apps. I only have a handful of friends who know about this blog but it's fun to hear that they're trying it out too to see what kind of matches they get. I mean, there are some successes but I'll talk more about those later. Anyway, I find it interesting when guys want to talk about religion immediately. Not that I'm bothered by it but some people just don't know how to bring it up in a way that isn't absolutely ridiculous.

Life Is Beautiful Review Day 1

Fair warning this was going to be one long post but then I decided to break it down by each day just to make life ten times easier so then it was less of a block of text for you to read. This post will be all about the musical lineup for Friday Day 1. Expect one for day 2 and 3 in the next few days along with the art and maybe some about the food and drinks. We'll see what I get written. So let's get to it!

16 Gifs That Prove You Should Love Ezra Miller

As you should know it is Ezra Miller's birthday and if you aren't sure who he is you have either been living under a rock or have mistakenly forgotten his name. Never fear, I have you covered. He's playing Barry Allen aka The Flash in DC's Justice League and he's starred in We Need to Talk About Kevin and Perks of Being a Wallflower along with a bunch of other movies. To celebrate I present to you 16 gifs that prove you should love Ezra Miller.

Dead Laptop

Sorry for the lack of posts everyone. This past weekend was busy with the Life is Beautiful music and art festival and I was so excited to post about it but it turns out my laptop is dead! I have a Dell and it wouldn't turn on and only gave one beep. Turns out the motherboard is corrupt so that means it's $300 to replace not including taxes. It's total BS in my opinion because when talking to Dell I justed updated my BIOS to what the computer had me install and now it suddenly won't work. Ugh. Either way for that price that's half of a laptop cost so I figure I might as well buy a new one. I'm working on buying a new laptop as I'm typing this up. I'll be posting some videos from the weekend on my Instagram and hopefully I'll be back up and running soon! (:

Life is Beautiful Prep

If you haven't heard of Life is Beautiful then you are truly missing out. Sure, it's something that happens in Las Vegas but I've met people from all over the United States and even around the world who attend (I'll never forget the girl from Italy for Imagine Dragons). It's a giant music, art, and food festival and it happens every year. It's actually only two days away and if you procrastinate like myself you need to get your last minute prepping in! I'm going to give you a run down of some do's and don'ts so you too can have an enjoyable time!

Bumble - Not A Catfish

Everyone and their dog knows of the tv show Catfish on MTV. Nev started off with a movie first to share his first hand experience and it helped to create the term that we use to describe someone who fakes a profile online in order to meet or talk to others. Usually the fake profile is used to date someone and get things from them as if it were a real relationship while still hiding out behind the screen of whatever device they are using. I never thought I'd read someone explicitly telling me they aren't a catfish.

17 Relatable Gifs of Leslie Knope

It's Amy Poehler's birthday and if you don't know her from Saturday Night Live or Parks and Recreation or any of her hilarious movies then you are truly missing out! Seriously, pull yourself together! Go binge watch Parks and Recreation because it is certainly good for your soul. I promise. In honor of her birthday I'd like to present to you a lineup of 17 relatable gifs from her lovely character Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation. Enjoy.

Book Review - Pacific Rim

I'm so happy by the response I got to my first book review. While I was away fishing for Labor Day Weekend I brought along another book with me to read so it's time to review that one as well. I'm going to try and keep this going with the hope that it will get me back into reading regularly like I used to before grad school ruined it for me. Today we're delving into science fiction so get ready.

OkCupid - Costume BJ Before Bed?

Not everyone who knows me in real life is aware that I run this blog but it's kind of fun to hear from friends who found out about the different dating apps because of my blog and have met their current boyfriend/girlfriend because of it. Of course they deal with the different struggles that I have as well so today's weird conversation comes from a friend. Let's get into it shall we?

Book Review - Suicide Notes From Beautiful Girls

As I mentioned on Twitter a good friend of mine recently finished reading a book and gave it to me saying that I needed to read it. I've been terrible about reading books as of late due to my busy schedule and thanks to the internet. What can I say? The internet is distracting. Either way my friend gave me a week to read the book and with my wifi being out I was able to finish it. So here's my first book review.

Do You Feel Like A Young God?

Sorry it's been a while since my last post about a dating app but I was a bit busy enjoying my vacation. Now that I'm back though it's time to let you all once more enjoy the fun going on with conversations in the dating apps. Today it's from OkCupid and honestly I can't stop laughing about it.

Why Voting This Year is an Emergency

It's Trump versus Hilary at this point whether or not you like it. Yes, there is the option of voting for the third party nominee  but let's be real that isn't going to help one bit. No one really knows who they is or much about them so to win the presidential seat at this point is a false hope. Both Trump and Hilary have their fair share of supporters so to vote for anyone else is basically awarding either Trump or Hilary the presidency seats without you actually casting a vote for either of them.

A Prince In Our Midst?

There was that one time I had a marriage proposal from a guy in India and thankfully there haven't been any others since that event. However I still find it interesting that I had a guy from so far away send me a message. Today I received a message from someone in Pakistan though and travel time to there is more than 20 hours! Let's see what he had to say.

First Giveaway

Hey everyone! As those of you who follow me on Twitter know I came home from my vacation to Thailand only to discover I had purchased an extra souvenir! I ran a quick poll and there was some interest in doing a giveaway for it so here we are. I suppose I'll say the giveaway is to celebrate 500 followers on Twitter and having the blog open for about 6 months. That's a good excuse right?

Advice to Guys: How to Pick up Women on Tinder

Ah, Tinder. A sea of fish, but not all the fish have great personalities. Or long-term goals. Or scales that look the same in underwater photography as they do IRL. (Okay, that metaphor might be a stretch). But, real talk, it definitely seems like some guys have NO idea what to do with themselves on Tinder. So I'm going to help you out. Here’s how to get your swiping game on point.

Olympic Highlights Thus Far

I am hooked on the Olympics. Sadly NBC is being a jerk and doesn't exactly air everything live and I also don't have cable. Thank goodness for friends who let me crash at their homes for hours on end to watch along with and the internet for keeping me up to date with what is happening. I wasn't planning on making a post out of this but I figured I'd share the fun and love for what's been happening.

The Versatile Blogger Award

Oh man. I am so terrible! I was nominated for this by Rebecca Claire almost two months ago but was so busy traveling the world I wasn't able to get up a proper post for it! Now that I'm finally getting around to it though I sure hope it counts. You should click the link and check out her blog. Thanks again for nominating me Rebecca. (: Now let's get on to what this award means.

Cheaper Than Therapy: 6 Reasons Why I Run

After a long day at work I need to unwind. Everyone has their niche for what they do to achieve that. Some may take a bubble bath, have a glass of wine, or even just watch Netflix in bed while eating some ice cream. It's all about whatever works for you.

Sometimes there are those really bad days though that no matter what you do you just can't get the anger and annoyance out of your system. Sure, you could rant to someone which always does some good because having people side with you after hearing the whole story feels great but sometimes no one else gets your situation. They can nod along but it's not the validation you need. This is where running comes in.

18 Relatable Posts About Being Lazy

National Lazy Day is an actual holiday which of course means it is my kind of holiday. In honor of that I have put together this list of easily relatable posts regarding being lazy. Let me tell you, it actually took me a while to put it together because I was distracted by Netflix and Spotify. The internet is a great place for when you're lazy... sometimes.

10 Things I Liked About Suicide Squad

The reviews are in from the critics for Suicide Squad and they actually aren't that great. To be honest this worried me a bit considering I all ready had my tickets. But the critics have been wrong before and I was still hyped so I went nonetheless. Let's just say I wasn't disappointed.

5 Reasons to be Hyped for Suicide Squad

If you go based off of the trailer you can tell that Suicide Squad is a movie not only meant to have the villains portrayed as the heroes but to have them become just as popular as the heroes. DC might be able to pull such a feat off thanks to the characters they've chosen to highlight as well as the actors chosen to portray them. If you aren’t all ready hyped here are some reasons you should be.

OkCupid - Casual Relationship for Fun Times

It's been a while since I posted one of my dating app conversations and the main reason is because I've been traveling out of the country. That of course meant I got rid of my dating apps to make room on my phone for all the photos I knew that I'd be taking. I mean, I wasn't planning to match with anyone while overseas. I just didn't have time for that! But I've re-downloaded them all and the conversations have just started flowing!

Don't Judge Me For Wearing Makeup

As a kid it was easy to be comfortable in my own skin because it didn’t matter what I looked like. Other kids would still play with me whether my hair was brushed or in a tangled mess. Adults weren’t concerned with my appearance because as a child, it’s expected that you’ll play around and have fun, and in the process, get a bit dirty or look a bit wild. Nothing wrong there. However, as I grew up I learned that it wasn’t acceptable to look like I’d been playing outside and having the time of my life. Rather, I was supposed to look put together at all times, no matter what I had just been doing.

General Tips For Playing Pokémon Go

So, you have downloaded Pokémon Go to join the craze that is taking over the nation, scratch that the world but you’re still not 100% sure of what all you should do. Well then this post is for you! Let me enlighten you to some of the tips and tricks for playing the game to have the most fun and be the most successful!

5 Safety Tips For Playing Pokémon Go

If you haven’t heard of Pokémon Go by now you must be living under a rock in a very deep underground cave that no one has discovered yet because there are no PokéStops or Pokémon Gyms near you, in which case you can either consider that a blessing or perhaps a curse. Either way Pokémon Go has taken over the world and is dominating at being the most used app all while getting people outdoors to do some actual exercise.

This post is all about safety though because it is becoming dangerous at this point sadly. Who would have thought a simple game would result in harm in the actual real world?

Bumble - End of the Line

It appears that Bumble just isn't going to work for me anymore. I get notifications to check it, because remember I've been out of the country with no service so I wasn't actively swiping, but then the app decides that there's nothing there for me. I mean, how does one run out of people? I'd love more of an explanation. You can't try to remind me to check on things when there is literally nothing to check.

Travel Tuesday - Austria

It's time for the second Travel Tuesday post! I'm so glad you all enjoyed reading about Hungary and were sharing it with friends who also plan to travel there. You should all seriously go if you get the chance. Today will be all about Austria so let's get started.

Travel Tuesday - Hungary

Welcome to the first Travel Tuesday post! As some of you know I spent the last two weeks in Eastern Europe so I figure I'll do one post focusing on each of the countries that I went to. Then I'll add in some more about other places I've traveled as well. I do love to spend my money seeing the world. (: Today will be all about Hungary! So let's get to it shall we?

Coffee Meets Bagel - Most Likely to Brighten Your Day

At this point I'm finding more and more interesting profile descriptions on the dating apps. I mean, I tried to keep my own short, sweet, and to the point. There's enough to go off of to get a feel for who I am and I have plenty of pictures up as well. When it comes to the guys that want to match with me though I'm all ready turned off from reading about them that I don't want to even bother with their pictures or finding out more.

OkCupid - Can't Talk Right Now

I know I'm somewhat terrible about messaging people back on these dating apps but even more so with OkCupid because it's terrible with notifications so I don't even know that I have a message to respond to in the first place! Maybe that's why I'm possibly missing out on some opportunities but even then I don't know if it might actually be a blessing in disguise.

Reasons Why I'm the Best Best Friend

For those of you who don't know today is National Best Friends Day, which is something we should all celebrate. I mean, who are you always able to turn to in your time of need? That's right, a best friend. I mean, we're talking Ann Perkins and Leslie Knope level of best friend. Either way be sure to get with your best friend and treat yo'self with delicious food and something fun. I was going to write this about why my own personal best friends are the best but then I thought it'd be more fun to ask my best friends to send me reasons why I'm the best best friend that they have. The things they remember and the stories made me laugh so I'll share them with you.

OkCupid - Coach Deja Vu

I know that some of these guys are getting repetitive, trust me I'm the one attempting to be polite and trying to have an actual conversation with them, but this guy is just screaming deja vu at me and I can't quite figure out why. I guess we just might need to know a bit more about him.

Bigger Is Better?

As I'm sure we're all aware of at this point there's not much going on with the dating apps. We've gotten through a good majority of all the different kinds of guys that I've interacted with and none are really sticking out/proving worthwhile. Of course I'll keep using the apps while I vacation this summer but I'm thinking about expanding the blog to include posts about a few other things. You've noticed a few different items such as 7 Reasons to Bring Back the Handwritten Letter and my Influenster #BlushVoxBox Review and so I'm going to warn you now that you can likely expect more posts similar to this. I'm also probably going to blog a bit about my traveling and recommendations on what to do and see. Either way I'm branching out a bit. This is all just for fun so I might as well enjoy myself right?

Influenster - #BlushVoxBox Review

So Influenster is something I recently discovered while I was clicking about the internet reading different blogs. I signed up for it and figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out. Well somehow I was picked to receive the #BlushVoxBox and so this post will be all about it. I've posted some things on my new Instagram account all ready so check those out and be sure to follow! (:

7 Reasons To Bring Back The Handwritten Letter

I’m not saying that I’m the best pen pal in the world because life happens and gets busy so setting aside the time to handwrite a letter can be difficult. But there are many joys that come from sending and receiving a handwritten letter that sometimes you just have to make time to do it.

I have a handful of friends who I write letters to and it’s very casual in the sense that we don’t expect a response immediately. If anything we just send a quick text saying “Got your letter!” or “Your letter is in the mail!” just so we know that it didn’t get lost (which has happened to me before). Sometimes not even knowing to expect a letter brings a bit of excitement when you open your mailbox.

So in honor of National Penpal Day here’s some reasons to bring back the handwritten letter.

Tagged! 15 Weird Questions

If you don't know Pelin then you need to get your life together and go check her out. I only recently befriended her on Twitter and now there's no going back honestly. Sorry Pelin, I'm not giving you a choice in the matter. I read her answers in her own post and mentioned we have a lot in common. Now she's tagged me and it's my turn to answer the questions.

OkCupid - Battle of the Sexes

Well if you have somehow forgotten my Legs of Steel post never fear you can always go back and read it, which you will want to do before reading this or else it will make very little sense! Now I'm sure we all thought that conversation was over but no, of course not. It had to continue.

Coffee Meets Bagel vs Tinder: The Pros & Cons Of Each

By now most all of us know about Tinder. You swipe right if you like a person or swipe left to pass on them. You can now swipe up and super like someone so that when you appear in their feed you’re outlined in blue so they all ready know that you’re interested. Sort of makes things easier in terms of deciding whether or not you’re interesting if you all ready know they are. Once you connect you’re able to message one another but that can turn into a bit of a problem. There are plenty of ghost accounts where the person never sends a message and as soon as you unmatch them they will reappear in your feed once more. Or there are the ones where the person is obviously lying about their age and only looking for a hookup. That doesn’t seem to match well with the idea of dating when it’s considered a dating app.

OkCupid - Legs of Steel

After the whole foot fetish confession I wasn't quite sure what to expect next. Where are my regular conversations? I don't get it. This next one started off with a compliment but I literally looked back at all of my pictures I put on OkCupid and they don't really highlight my legs that much to make someone say "You have legs of steel!"

OkCupid - Are My Settings Correct?

Now I can easily see the pictures of people who message me and even though it's a tiny snapshot in a small circular bubble I was a little confused when I saw a picture that was obviously a mirror selfie with the face cut off. I was a bit concerned when I noticed that they seemed to be wearing an outfit I would expect to see on a woman. I thought this was going to be a repeat of that one guy I had when I first joined. Let me explain.

OkCupid - Jake From State Farm

Ok so it isn't really Jake from State Farm but that commercial still makes me laugh and that is now what I'm associating Jake in Florida with. Just let me have my fun. If you don't remember my first post about him be sure to go back here to read it over. He's the one who said tall girls were the best. Well I continued the conversation with him as I said I but wow did things take a turn.

OkCupid - Top of the Mornin

I think I may have missed the memo regarding the whole Irish vibe. I mean, remember that last post where the guy started by asking about whether or not I was in to Irish guys? Seems I must have traveled to Ireland somehow, which would be absolutely fantastic because talk about a great vacation. Sadly that isn't the case and I'm sure they have better pick up lines over there. Anyways, let's get back to the "gangsta" who messaged me.

Tinder - A Friend's Tale Part 2

Now it's time to continue my tale about Lily and Nate. If you missed Part 1 be sure to go back and read that so you aren't too lost or confused. Now where I left off, things were going great. They had met up, gone to dinner, and ended the night with cuddling and movies. That doesn't sound too bad now does it? Things ended on a good note.

Tinder - A Friend's Tale Part 1

So I told my friend about using all these different dating apps and blogging about it which made her become a bit interested in all the dating apps. Not to blog about it of course, but just to see what all the dating apps had to offer/were all about. She recently got out of a five year relationship so she's looking to get back in the dating game but wasn't exactly sure how to go about it. This is her story.

OkCupid - Vagas Trouble

You read that correctly. I wrote Vagas and not Vegas, which you will understand once you read this post. Let's just say I'm busy getting into trouble according to this southern man.

OkCupid - Tall Girls Are The Best!

You've all seen the gist of most of the messages I receive from the different guys on the dating apps at this point. They're starting to get a bit repetitive and if I'm being completely honest I'm getting a bit bored with it. I mean, I didn't know I'd be attracting all of the same kinds of guys. That wasn't part of the plan. Then I got this random message from Jake and it was kind of nice.

OkCupid - Really Cool Person

Do guys just think that saying one sentence will magically convince me that what they are saying is true? I mean, you have to prove yourself. You could say just about anything in a message but that doesn't make any of it true. So saying that you're a "pretty cool person" means nothing to mean because that's just what you're trying to present. I'll have to figure that out for myself.

OkCupid - Shot Yourself In The Foot

So Hannah has been on me about giving my number out to guys to chat with them, which I don't exactly mind considering most of the messaging aspect within the apps aren't the best when it comes to notifications. At this point OkCupid is the worst with it crashing and not sending messages but that's beside the point. Well I matched with a guy named Paul on OkCupid and we only sent a few messages before he was asking for my number, which I was fine with because let me just say Paul was very attractive.

OkCupid - Reflecting on Myself and Flinstones

Mirror selfies are not cool. Honestly they just aren't. You know that people place themselves just right with the perfect angle so that they present themselves in the best way. Or sometimes they are just blurry and terrible pictures because people don't know how to clean their mirror. Either way some people like them but seriously there's a front facing camera now so just take a normal picture. When a 40 year old man takes a mirror selfie that doesn't make it any better. I mean, I don't expect him to be a pro at it but why is he doing it in the first place?

OkCupid - I'm Not Thinking About You!

People fill out their profiles how they want to. There's the handful of questions that are asked that need a little more detail besides yes or no or just one choice between two options. There are the quick match questions of messy vs organized, morning person vs night person, and things along those lines that break down into percentages of match-ability, if that's a word. Sometimes seeing what people write down in response to some of the questions just confuse me. I mean, are they actually trying to find a relationship or not?

Clover - Up and Coming Company

We live in a digital age and I'm fairly certain that just about everyone who has a cellphone or internet access knows it. I mean, we have apps for just about anything and everything so why am I not surprised that guys are not only using the dating apps to get girls to come out to the club, because they are club promoters, but also to find models. This doesn't sound sketchy at all.

OkCupid - Why So Serious?

On these dating apps I've seen pictures of a lot of guys with tattoos. Personally, I would never get one for myself. I mean, I don't think I would be able to handle having something permanently inked on my skin. Sure, there's the option of getting it removed later but that's just expensive and painful. Some tattoos are cool and have purpose, I get that. It's all up to the person who gets a tattoo. As long as you love it that is what matters. Enjoy it and flaunt it. But there is one tattoo I just can't get over.

OkCupid - Midas Touch

If only everything he touched turned to gold. Maybe then he would be a bit more interesting. Or perhaps I could just have him touch a bunch of random things to make bank from selling them. Now that would be innovative and keep me well funded for any and all of my travel plans. Instead, I don't think he possesses that ability.

OkCupid - Missed Memo

Compliments. We've talked about them before and yet here we are discussing them again. Compliments are nice. I like them. Tell me something new though. I want to have an actual conversation because I am not on these dating apps looking for a hook up. Thankfully this guy got the memo.

OkCupid - High Expectations

I deal with plenty of different people on a daily basis due to my work and the fact that I have friends who move in different social circles so I almost always meet someone new and have an interesting discussion with them. There are plenty of different background stories that people have about how they were raised and what they did in school. It always fascinates me but one thing is the same that they had some sort of drive to get to where they want to be and do what they want. Yet on the OkCupid app, I found someone with none of that.

OkCupid - I'm a Traveler

So a username can be pretty telling for a person. I mean, I know that I didn't exactly know that I couldn't change my username later on when I first signed up but I was smart enough to at least make it something not ridiculous. So when your username includes "noplease" I'm not quite sure what to make of that nonsense. What exactly are you trying to politely say no to?

Wednesday, April 27, 2016

OkCupid - No You May Not

Is it me? Is there something I am doing wrong to collect these men who are far older than myself? I am just not understanding it one bit. There is nothing in my profile that says I am interested in older men or becoming a gold digger. Yet here we go again, but this one thinks we can be friends?

Tuesday, April 26, 2016

OkCupid - Google Search

I know that pick up lines have become a joke nowadays due to the fact that they usually are pretty ridiculous sounding and no one really falls for them unless they are completely intoxicated or they just don't give a shit because the person saying the line is attractive. Either way on a dating app when I get a pick up line as a message I start to wonder how many other people it has been used on and whether or not it's been successful in helping the guy get a girl to talk to him.

Monday, April 25, 2016

OkCupid - Good Guy and Good Vibes

I'm sorry, but when someone tells me that they are a "good guy" that is an automatic turn off. I guess I've seen and heard that phrase used far too many times by guys who are just acting pathetic because they were the "good guy" and shouldn't have been dumped by a girl. Or they were put in the made up "friend zone" which is something I've only heard guys complain about, never a girl. Anyways, what do I say to the guy who's username literally contains "goodguy"?

Coffee Meets Bagel - I Think I Broke It

As you now know I've had a handful of connections of Coffee Meets Bagel and only a few actual conversations with the people who I've actually matched with but it would seem that I have now broken the app.

Friday, April 22, 2016

OkCupid - This is Trouble?

All the first messages seem to be getting better and better. Or perhaps it is worse. I am not quite sure. I mean, at this point nothing tops the Make Donald Drumpf Again conversation because I thought that was quite entertaining. However it seems the older men are at it again.

Thursday, April 21, 2016

Coffee Meets Bagel - So Close Yet So Far

As I said before I haven't had much luck with Coffee Meets Bagel. A handful of matches and some conversations that eventually just die after a few exchanged messages. I could practically keep a conversation with a wall if needed but come on now guys, you have to give me something to work it. You have to be more interesting than a wall. Thankfully it seems one guy can actually keep up.

Wednesday, April 20, 2016

OkCupid - You Like Irish Guys

I'm in Vegas so I know plenty of people are only in town for the weekend or sometimes even for a day trip. If they happen to stay longer than a weekend then kudos to them and I hope they have fun wile in town. Most of the guys who I see that say they are only in Vegas for the weekend or something along those lines I ignore because honestly, what's the point? I know they just want me to meet up with them at the club and hook up. I'm not stupid and that's not what I'm about. But what do you do for the guy who thinks he's a tall Irish guy?

Tuesday, April 19, 2016

OkCupid - You Hurt Me

We've established at this point that apparently sending the first message is hard. This is something that most all the guys on OkCupid seem to struggle with. When I get something that literally hurts my head to read I'm not quite sure what I did to deserve this pain. I mean, I think I'm a good person so this needs to stop. Please don't let this happen again.

Clover - Don't Lie To Me

Writing a description about yourself on a dating app where you have free reign to write whatever you like can be tough. You don't want to say too much that someone just blows you off because of it or say too little because it makes it seem like you just want someone to know you for your looks. However if you're going to throw out numbers and percentages let me just say that is a turn off. Especially when it isn't at all accurate.

Coffee Meets Bagel Intro

Now we all know of Tinder and how it works so let's talk a bit about Coffee Meets Bagel. Think of it as Tinder but more, intense? No, that probably isn't the right word. It's more about a deeper connection I suppose than just seeing the face of hundreds of random people and swiping right or left depending on whether or not you find them attractive. You set your specifics of what you're looking for in regards to age, height, ethnicity, religion, and distance from where you live. Then you get one possible match every 24 hours. That's right, only one guy shows up every 24 hours. Let's break it down as to why this is.

OkCupid - Not the One I Want

Listen, I am not that old. I promise. There are plenty of strangers I've met who think I'm younger than I actually am and yet for some reason I keep attracting these men who are well in their 40's. Once more they aren't attractive enough for me to want to become a gold digger. On top of that they have kids, it says so right on their profile, and I'm 100% sure that their kids are close to my age and wouldn't like the idea of their father dating someone their age. Even I am horrified by such a thought. Dad, if you ever somehow discover this I promise that if you ever divorce mom and start dating a girl as young as I am I will quickly end that relationship for you and kick you off of all social media so won't be such a creep. Anyways, back to the fun older men!

OkCupid - He Lost His Smile

I get a lot of random messages on OkCupid, which I'm sure you've noticed by now. I have such a hard time at this point keeping up with the app because just about anyone can message me and honestly I do try to search through the messages and at least read them before deciding if I want to respond or ignore it. Sometimes the app won't let me go back to see my messages unless I click to view the guy's profile, as if it wants me to tell the dude I looked at him and then didn't respond. Thanks a lot OkCupid! Anyways, I don't know what to tell you about this guy other than he lost his smile so help him find it.

Wednesday, April 13, 2016

OkCupid - That's Not How It Works

Talking about kids is a little weird, right? I mean, that's not something I would bring up in my first message or even in conversation with someone who I've just met. I mean, it's one thing to mention later that you have kids when dating but most profiles have pictures of the guys with kids and they explicitly state whether the kid in the photos are their own or nieces/nephews. However, please don't have your first message to me be about us having kids.

Bumble - Reading Is Important

Being in Vegas means lots of matches from people who want to just hook up or have you come out to the club. I know this, which is why I explicitly put in my profile "Not here for hookups or to go to the club" so that should keep things simple, right? Apparently not. Also bumble requires the girl to message first so some guys really aren't off to a great start.

OkCupid - My Answer Is No

So Robert, who seemed pretty chill, started a conversation with me on the app. He was into hiking and the outdoors so that was something we had in common. He mentioned going on a hike and I figured we could meet up. He had been easy enough to converse with and went along with my humor easily, but little did I know what would happen when we got together.

Clover - Grandpa's Netflix and Chill?

As you can probably tell at this point there isn't too much happening on Clover for me. I mean, lots of guys like me and I slowly sort through them deciding whether to delete them or like them back, but then conversations just don't happen. I'll stick to my old fashion ways of letting the guy talk to me first because that doesn't bother me one bit. However, while sorting through the list of guys who like me I was slightly disturbed by the Roy who showed up.

OkCupid - Sorry

Remember my first OkCupid post where I said
Now my other favorite message thus far is from a man who is well into his 30's who wrote, and I quote, "Hi gorgeous i defontly like to get to know u if ur interested". Perhaps I am just too much of a grammar nazi but that literally burned my eyes for a moment. I get chat speak but that's for teenagers. I'm currently thinking of a nicely worded comeback regarding his inability to spell.
Now there's more.

Clover - Badges and Mixers Are Signs

I mentioned before that Clover had badges and that I would explain them later so I'm about to do that here. Also, I'll talk more about why I have barely any stories about guys on Clover although it's mostly because none message me or can keep a conversation going. Remember everyone, calling someone pretty isn't going to make conversation start flowing or make people like you.

OkCupid - 99 Problems But You Ain't One

Conversation starters are hard apparently. I am starting to realize this on OkCupid since random guys keep messaging me even though we aren't a match and I haven't liked them back. Can't they take a hint? Or maybe just start the conversation about something we have in common? Then there's this loser who thought he was being funny starting off with what he considered a joke.

OkCupid - Crushed Hopes and Dreams

So I guess disabling your account is something that is possible. I've noticed with a few of my messages on OkCupid that when I open them they state that the user has disabled their account so of course I can't message back. I don't know why one would do that if they literally just started messaging someone but hey, what do I know? Anyways, I just love to think highly of myself and that maybe I'm the reason the guy below disabled their account.

Tuesday, April 5, 2016

OkCupid - Sushiboy

I have a cool photo of me with some sushi that I made at a sushi academy. That's pretty legit right? I think so and that's what matters. Either way I imagine someone to ask me if I like sushi or ask if I would make them some because they think they're being cute or funny. That would be fine, but instead I got the following message.

Monday, April 4, 2016

OkCupid - Ugh

All I can say is that below the cut there are weird and amusing conversations. You've been warned.

Sunday, April 3, 2016

OkCupid - Your Mom

Look, just start a conversation with me. It isn't that hard. There's enough on my profile for you to ask something about me. I know that because I wrote it and if you can't come up with something then it isn't going to last considering we have to actually have a conversation. I do need to get to know you. Let's look into the recent blunder of messages.

OkCupid - Make Donald Drumpf Again

I'm 99.8% sure, which is an A+, that you shouldn't start off a conversation talking about politics. I mean, you don't really even know a person or what their beliefs are. This presidential election year is such a mess that any talk of it immediately can become an argument because let's be real, it's a shit storm. So when I got the message "Make America Great Again" from some no faced stranger I just had to see what was going on.

Saturday, April 2, 2016

OkCupid - Gin

Ever have a lame marriage proposal as the first message that you receive from some stranger? Yeah, I only remember that happening while traveling in Turkey. There were some shop keepers who compared me to J. Lo, the Spice Girls, and a few tried to propose marriage. I'm certain they were just bored and killing time while also having a bit of fun with a tourist but still, this is just weird in a dating app.

OkCupid - Abhi

Compliments are nice. I like to think I know how to take a compliment, especially when someone is being honest, but that's a bit hard in the dating world isn't it? Doesn't every guy mention something along the lines of "you're beautiful and I would love to get to know you inside and out" because it never hurts to start with a compliment? Let's just say I've gotten a few of the complimentary starts in conversations but honestly it's a bit confusing. What do you expect me to say? Something like "Wow! I've never heard that before! You sure are great at judging me based off my looks! Too bad you don't actually look great." Time to see what happens with this Abhi guy.

OkCupid - Voo Update

For Eddie. You wanted an outline of the meet up so here you go.

Clover - JDC

It looks like OkCupid isn't the only place that has some older men stalking me. You know who I'm talking about. So with Clover you can see who likes you and scroll through that list and delete people or like them back in order to create a match. I legit lost track of how many people liked me but I know it's over 100 because I earned a badge for it? I'll talk about those badges later because this post is about one JDC. Now JDC popped up in my "likes you" list so I of course clicked his picture to gather more information. Then things got worse.

Thursday, March 31, 2016

Clover - Jonathan

So I was sorting through my likes on Clover, deleting those who I wasn't interested in, and I ended up with a few matches before I received a message from Jonathan. The only part I see in my notification is "So you're super cute. I am" and that's the end of it. I figure he's doing the right thing by giving a compliment first before starting a conversation but I was wrong.

OkCupid - Voo

What do you tell a guy that you literally matched with less than 24 hours ago when he asks to meet up? I mean, normally I think there needs to be a bit more conversation right? Especially when you consider the fact that it isn't as if we've been messaging on the app nonstop. We both actually work and have lives, which is probably surprising to some of the people who seem to be living on the app. Let's break this down a bit.

Wednesday, March 30, 2016

OkCupid - Joey

Profile pictures in general are difficult to choose. I get that. You want all your friends to see the super cool thing you are doing and you want to look cool doing it. That makes picking out a few pictures to display on a dating app harder because you want people to see you while getting to know a bit about you without having them judge you entirely on your looks. That's cool. I get that.So please allow me some time when I first start the app greasy Joey.

OkCupid - Poly Couple

Look, I'm not the type of person to try and tell someone how to live their life really unless it's a close friend who I care about that is about to do something stupid or dangerous. So when it comes to relationships I can't really say much about those who are interesting in one that involves more than one person, mostly because it just doesn't make sense to me. You can say I don't know because I've never tried it but honestly, I'm not planning to try ever. I can barely handle one on one interactions with a person who I really like so I can't imagine trying to add in another person into the mix. That'd just be awkward in my opinion. So what do I do when a poly couple messages me?

Tuesday, March 29, 2016

OkCupid - Hyena

Is it hard to start a conversation? I mean, beyond the "Hey, what's up? How are you?" sort of thing? If you look at a person's profile you could easily check and read what they're interested in and BAM! You'll have something to ask or talk about. It won't hurt to read I promise. However I suppose some people just want to send what they consider interesting conversation starters. If only I had the emojis on here so you all could see.

Bumble - Johnny

Bumble let's you post multiple pictures in order to give people a sense of who you are and what you look like. You know there are the suggestions of don't use a mirror selfie, make sure it's not a big group pictures, and so on but apparently some people like to post pictures of who they really are.

Listen Johnny, I really didn't need to swipe through and see all your dick pics. Honestly. The angle doesn't change a thing. If I actually did want to look at dick pics one day there is this glorious thing called google images. So no thank you, that's a hard pass on that one. Also, you're letting everyone know that you're basically a dick. I suppose I could thank you on behalf of others for the warning but I am still a bit scarred by the images I had to see.

At least I'm now warning anyone in Vegas to be careful of a Johnny with a sketchy looking first picture.

OkCupid

I've literally had my OkCupid for less than 24 hours and have 215 likes, 138 visits to my profile, and 18 messages sent to me. Now, the deal with OkCupid is you have to pay if you want to see who has liked you and you can only see the five most recent people who visit to your profile, which is not something I plan to do. All communication is free though so anyone who sees my profile can send me a message. Needless to say with so many likes and visits in less than 24 hours I feel pretty popular. I literally only put up six pictures, a short description blurb saying I love to travel and run, and then listed some movies, music, and tv shows I watch. It's not a lot really.

Anyways, let's get into the messages thus far shall we?

Intro

So Hannah is very worried about my dating life and suggests different apps for me to try while here in Vegas. I've done Clover, Bumble, Tinder, Coffee Meets Bagel, and now I'm trying OkCupid. The problem with being in Vegas is that most every guy is a club promoter and heaven forbid I don't actually care to go out every night just to help them meet their quota for referrals. So, expect short blurbs about what happens to me with these fun apps. (: Enjoy Hannah. And if this becomes a movie you get a percentage of the earnings.
